Birthdays are the best.
Jan. 8th, 2005 02:59 amTonight was my friend Matt's Birthday Party. For this illustrious event we went to Buca di Beppo in WDC. Shared portions. The group was around 22 people. We ate, drank, and had a good time. I got to sit next to the birthday boy and Gayle..across from Goof. I was worried with all my food allergies that I wouldn't be able to share the meal, but I did ok. We got Chicken Saltimboca as one of the entrees, salads, an antipasto, and canolli with no shell. I was more than set. I did whimper at the ravioli and rigatoni and broke down for a piece of each. Dinner wasn't cheap, but the bill came out perfectly without us trying to hard. Everyone was impressed.
Next, we headed out to Polyesther's in DC. We danced in the 70-90's room to songs I know and loved. I got hit on by one scary guy who seemed so drugged out he barely moved, let alone danced, and two other guys who, when I wasn't ready to dance immediately, wandered away... which is fine. I was there with friends, not to hook up. I had a great time dancing though...until I broke out in hives. I am still a bit itchy and am looking forward to rinsing off.
I was leery that one of the assorted guests at the event was someone I didn't want to see. Luckily, he got sick, so I didn't have to deal with it at all. I had been looking anxiously at the door when new people were coming in when the birthday boy whispered to me, "BTW, not sure if you were stressed about it, but he's sick and not coming." I admitted my stress, but it went away and I had a great time.
I miss spending time with Matt. He is a good friend who lives to far away and I often don't see him for months on end. Luckily, he said he likes to dance, so we are planning on doing this again. I love the excercise and creativity that dancing provides me.
To bed now...took a few pics. Have to find out how to upload them though...Good night...Glad it happened.
