Lovely evening

So I had made arrangements with a group to see Ted Garber again last night at Clyde's in Columbia. The organizer had said we should all get there early and do dinner first. I was just about ready to go when I got a bit farther held up than I wanted to and called to leave a message that I was going to be late. Once I got there, I found out that the only other person of the promised group to show was Cozit. We went in, got a table in the smoke-free bar area, both had yummy soups and salads (her's with Iced Tea, Mine with a Chocolate Mint Martini). Dinner was great, conversation, though quieter than expected, was good.

Ted was in good form. Last week when I saw him, his voice had cracked a bit on a few songs. Tonight, he sounded quite good. He sang one original piece again. Cozit had to leave around 11:30ish, but I stayed to the bitter end. He did only 3 songs in the last set, but they were good and it was a nice way to end out the evening. I gave him a hug goodbye, chatted a bit, he complimented my new blue hat, and off I went home. I tried calling Ca_Amethyst to have company on my drive home at 12:45 am, but her phones were off.

Dani, Ted says "where were you!?!?!"

My girlfriend and I caught him at Flanagans sometime in the Fall I think. It had been a couple years since I caught his show, and it was nice to see him play again. He most certainly makes things very fun.

Both Dani and I had the world's WORST day at work yesterday, and we were SO beaten down and miserable that we decided to skip it....we would have been a *serious* buzzkill for the entire evening.

Better to be absent and missed, than present and remembered for bringing the whole table down, we thought.

I think that would make Ted very happy. But he's off to Argentina in two weeks, so it will be very soon or not till March.

I kinda figured. I hit panic when I saw your post. I got there around 9 and Cozit had been standing outside for a half hour wondering if she had the right night. I knew I should have sent a reminder out.

I realize your day was tough. Sorry. He did really miss you though. Next time...He does do Annapolis every Wednesday, though they can be tough for me, you could go and say hi.

As it was, I was going over a 1/2" thick stack of legal documents, and finding *far* too many issues... until nearly 10pm last night.

Mebbe next time I'll remember to put Ted in my calendar and say "sorry, this is bull, and I'm not staying for it since I've got other plans".
