new challenges
Oct. 21st, 2005 12:05 pmSo yesterday, I took a special class offered by the head of the Angels. It was an acro/arial hoop/silk class, in reverse order. The last minute advertising was not big, so it was a small class: me, the teacher, and RSTeachout. I enjoyed the hell out of it.
Both RS and I got up on the silks (not high, I have not enough ab strength), but we learned a few holds and both of us were able to suspend our bodies from the silk without at least one hand, and I got it no handed for a VERY brief moment.
Then, for hoops she hadn't adjusted the height, so the hoop was stage height at Market. WIth help, I got up and held my own for a bit, I can pose prettily and learned the basic moves. After a little while, my fear of heights got the better of me and I came down. RS had some back issues and could not be up as long, but he got up there and I was damn proud of him.
Lastly, we learned partnering acro. I can't finish out the lifts elegantly, but I got up and could stay up relatively well once we figured out our body differences. She even said that, weather permitting, she will let us play with them to get a bit more experience this weekend.
Look for stupina being a bit unusual this weekend, if she can come out at all.
I am sore all over my arms and hips, but I feel so very accomplished. I am not show worthy yet, by far, but I am so excited by it all.
