Back from NCRF

Back from NCRF's first weekend. No time, so quick, shorter recap of stuff missing far too many details.
It was great seeing people and catching up with them again. It also reminds me of how small this community is when those I meet at one faire show up at another, sometimes from halfway across the country. Not all had a great weekend, but seeing them all meant so much to me.
The new shows were AMAZING and received very well.
We added a 3rd/4th show for michael/I this weekend for some additional hat and to make sure there wasn't a dead space on the stage. First day was the wedding, second was the exciting show.
In the pub, Trinket and I rocked and even threw a song in for the first day's Pub Sing. We all performed for the queen on Sunday, after 4 shows, 2 very physical, one singing and one just generically high energy...then we did the acro one more time for her maj followed IMMEDIATELY by singing. I HURT. Try singing Parting Glass when you are fighting for air. Yeesh. I managed it though.
I took a tumble in the mud when getting our sound system and while I was fine, that hurt a bit. If I had pride, it might have hurt that, but I didn't much care. I cared about my costume.
We got a GREAT new idea for the Interpreters from a playtron from MD way and so very many compliments. The really exciting show went over really well and also got great compliments. Poor Scapino got very bruised (as did I, but in different places), but we did find out he can get out of the straight jacket when it's REALLY tight. At least in one area.
The mistakes worked for us and made the audience laugh with glee as well as us. It was fun, even with lighter crowds on Sunday. My favorite tag for the shows?... Come see me put Scapino on a straight jacket and set him on fire. (Hee.) Trinket had a great set up for the Interpreters too.
My actors worked really hard. I was so very proud of both of them. They jumped in where they could, they helped out any way they could, they offered suggestions, many of which were so perfect, that they are permanent. We have a great comfortable working arrangement, and I love that.
4 Very physical shows in one day is tough. The heat was bad in the pub and really takes it out of you when you are singing in a tight bodice, but with a show on-show off- schedule, you just keep running. There will be more time for street once we get back to a "normal" schedule.
Next weekend, we perform on Good Friday Eve (faire opens from 3-10) and Easter Saturday (10:00 - 6:30). We don't perform Easter Sunday, but we will be driving back.
There are a group of "new to NCRF" shows. Pickled Brothers, Barely Balanced, and more, as well as some old standby's.
Can't wait to share this with all of you who can make it down.
Oh, and Moonie, whose only weekend was this one, left a very special (in a short bus kind of way) message for a very dear friend of mine and his. I just hope it doesn't get deleted before the person listens all the way through.
