Okay... Questions from CellyMcFae

1. You and I both like wine. If you were a wine, what would you be? Describe yourself.
Hrm…Red, not only because of the hair, but because reds tend to be a more full-bodied wine. Very fruit forward with hints of chocolate, cinnamon, blackberries, and vanilla. Intense flavor, but easy on the palate, that makes you think it has bubbles in it. Elegant, something that can be drunk around any kind of friends, but you share with the closest, the kind that makes you a bit giddy after drinking - and warm. Goes with just about any food, except tripe. Do they make a bubbly Zinfandel or Cab Sav? Maybe I am that Kick you in your ass Pinot Noir that I love. Or a crisp, mellow and slightly sweet Viognier.

2. I love Stupina because she can always make me smile and remind me to think "child-like." Other than Stupina, what character (at Faire, in the theatre, elsewhere in life) does that for you? How?

Bill Irwin in the Regard to Flight. Amazing sense of play- re-opening in NYC in December…for a short run, don’t miss it. Joe Diffenbacher - didn’t always get along with my clown teacher, but he encouraged me to play and let go of thinking so much. When I was a patron, Maggoty Mullet and her "I sold my fish" song or Mimi with her marshmallow bait made me smile. Most of Pub Sing and the back room. Honestly, the kids do it more for me though, the real kids, seeing them play, like my nephews. My cats make me mushy and silly on occasion.

3. Tell me something really cool or wonderful about one or more of your grandparents.
My mom’s mom, Anna, was hid by her neighbors in Russia, to protect her and her family when the Pogroms came through. Then, when her family decided to leave, the walked the long way to the USA - through Europe in the 1910’s. My Grandmother was the oldest, and literally carried her baby sister, who was sickly, over the mountains in Russia and through Europe to safety. My dad wrote a musical about her. I still haven’t been able to read it yet. The day she died, I think she new it was coming. She had called my mom and was waiting for her to call back. Didn’t go to see her friends that night, cause she was waiting for my mom’s call. Finally, she went to sleep, and never woke up.

On the way to my mom’s dad’s funeral years before, in the car, I heard my mom’s voice tell me everything was going to be ok. I sat up and asked my mom what she said…my mom wasn’t there, she was already at the funeral parlor with her brothers and sisters. To this day, I think it was my grandfather talking to me in a voice I would recognize, since he had had massive strokes before my sister was born, and I never even heard his voice.

My dad’s mom married my grandfather, who then died when my dad was 3 years old. My grandmother never remarried and made her entire life about raising her two kids…and dying her hair black until she was into her 80’s.

My dad’s Uncle, Zalmund, was a tailor, and had a cleft palate. When my Dad’s family first came to the US, he was sent back because they couldn’t believe he could take care of himself. He had to prove he could support himself before they would let him in…As a side note, I mentioned my response to energy…I went to Ellis Island years ago. While walking through, I came to a staircase (small, only 10 or fewer short steps) and suddenly began to panic. Shaking, my stomach got upset and I almost started to cry. I walked away as fast as I could and my friend checked out the plaque on the wall. Turns out, that was the staircase where families were separated if some were being sent back. That exact spot where my heart stopped was the place my great uncle was sent back, where families were permanently separated. The fear in that spot was awesome and terrifying. But I didn’t know where I was, until after I felt it.

4. If you had to choose, which cartoon character are you most like and why?
This one is tough. I almost dressed as Jessica Rabbit for Halloween once, red hair, big …physique, sensual. Racer X cause I wear a mask? As a kid I wanted to be Penelope Pitstop. I have been Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck at Great Adventure in NJ. I just can’t see one that I fit. They are designed to be more aggressive and to get angry too easily…not me. Maybe Wonder woman for her skill solving? I can see myself like a muppet more…Sam, the American Eagle getting disgusted with the silliness of others, Fozzie when I attempt to make jokes, that fail, Maybe Kermit, organizing and keeping everyone else in line to make the show happen. Or Rowlf, level-headed, artistic, playful, and likes to chase cats. Not sure if that is a good answer. Anyone else have suggestions for me to choose from?

5. You have infinite power and money to solve one person's problem. Whose do you solve, who is it, and how do you solve it?
So, it can’t be mine, where I ditch this mundane job and can open my own theater doing the work I want to create and create a venue for others of similar talents to perform? Have lots of people come and grow. Have a working studio/rehearsal space for local performers to come and work on materials, make a shared creative communal performance space. Create new, unusual creative pieces and not have to worry about money to do it. Have GREAT teachers come in and share the skills that make them so amazing?

If not that, well, this is tough too. I keep wanting to heal friends, etc, but that isn’t an issue of money OR power. I would heal Tristan’s legs, but that might not even be doable or worth it to him now. I am just not good with "power" or "money", was never my cup of tea. Maybe make sure my parents were taken care of, house paid for and all expenses done, make sure dad has good medical treatment, then get him REALLY working in the commercial/movie field, successfully.

Not sure if that helped, or not, but et, viola!
