Well Sat eve. I was celebrating a friends birthday and when the crowd where we were got too loud...well, the non Irish band in the Irish bar was too loud, so we left and wandered to the Piratz Tavern, my first time visiting there.
As we entered the back patio area, there was a group of men clearing a large table we planned on taking. Turns out they were taking around a groom to be for his bachelor party. This called for a song. After asking the group which one, and not getting feedback, I started singing "My Thing is My Own" (yeah, the fun of re-teaching myself the melody since I don't sing that part anymore).
Midway through the song, the music for the belly dancers started up again. The entire patio of tables started booing. I didn't realize they were all listening in. We had to ask the waitress to turn the music off again for a moment so I could finish his tribute. I did, got lots of laughs and a lovely, albeit quiet alto back up to help me along. ;-)
The gentlemen stayed to watch the belly dancer start and then headed on their way. I do so love the special surprise moments you get to share.
And the belly dancers getting tipped by the birthday boy was fun...but they need mint next time we are there...I really think they needed a mojito on the menu.
