Flu-less and out of the picture
Dec. 11th, 2003 02:27 pmOk, so I have been trying to get my flu shot for weeks, even before the scare. I tried my Dr.s office who noted that they would not be giving them and I should deal with the local county health organization. I called them and got hung up on, etc. and decided to wait a week or so...then, the scare. I called again today and there was only one place left from the list of places they noted I could even get one. I got the ok from the boss and hopped in the car to drive to Annapolis' Giant. I work by the DC Beltway, about 30 mintues or more away, without traffic. I got there in 30 minutes at 11:15. They started at 10:00 with 300 shots and were supposed to be there till 4:00. At 11:15, I was number 243. I waited in line, chatting with the two nice ladies in front and back of me, till 12:50 pm. YIKES! One lady even bought me a water since she was getting herself one.
I wonder if I would have had such a problem if the media hadn't hyped it so much.
Oh, and there was a photographer taking pictures of the line and the woman behind's me little son. She never asked permission to take pics of the kid and only asked for names AFTER the fact for the others in line...I was not one she asked, but I determinedly kept my back to her because she did not ask first. It REALLY pissed me off. I wasn't at an "event" I was going to get a "medical procedure" taken care of. I was more upset that she took pics of the baby and didn't ask. And no one wanted to make a stink...though the nurses were very pissed off and were talking to their boss about it while I was up there.
Any thoughts?
