so how long does it take..

to copy 354 GB from a USB external drive to a firewire external drive through a mac mini....144 hours...I have another 81 to go. Poor little computer has been putting in over time this week. I will finally be able to move more files on Friday, cause that is not all I have to move.

FYI for future reference I have often found it is faster to copy from the thumb drive to the computer and then from the computer to the firewire. Something about using some macs as a passthrough like that just slows them to a crawl.

That is a honking lot of data to move. Going to Firewire 800? I would have been tempted to keep the data on USB 2.0 if you're just talking about Firewire 400.

Good googly moogly!

I wonder if that wouldn't have been worth having a company (or friend) with more internal drive bays do an internal drive to drive copy. That was a LOT of copy time due to the limitations of USB and Firewire speeds.
